Information Communication: Public Health Case Study

Overview:
In the spring of 2020, Ottawa Public Health put out an infographic describing how to form a “social bubble” to reduce the spread of disease during a viral epidemic. However, the visual of a central duo surrounded by unconnected individuals gives the false impression that each individual is the “centre” of their own bubble.
I decided to recreate the infographic using identical copy (text), images, and style, but removing unnecessary elements and stengthening the message of an interconnected, isolated bubble. The resulting visual is much easier to interpret at a glance, and complements the text more accurately.
This case study showcases the need for full comprehension on the part of the designer when creating infographics.
